Hello fellow Methow Valley citizens, Your local amateur radio operators are looking for a hilltop location in the area to put a radio repeater on. This repeater will be part of the county wide emergency communications plan and will fill in the gap that the Methow Valley currently has regarding emergency communications.
An ideal site would be at a location overlooking the valley with a clean line of sight toward Winthrop, Twisp and Mazama though we would be happy with an even less than ideal site that has a relatively high elevation, off the valley floor. We do not necessarily need to have ac power (though that would be nice) as our radio system has wind power and solar panels for operations off the grid.
Our repeater system is low power (less than 100W) in the UHF (444.800Mhz) and VHF (146.580Mhz) bands, is visually low impact and can even be disguised to blend in with the surroundings if that is a concern.
If you (or someone you know - please spread the word) would like to help improve the emergency communications preparedness of the Methow Valley please contact Dave Corrigan at: corry@eburg.com or (509) 341-4026. -Dave, amateur radio callsign, KB7SVP
