Hey Guys and Gals,
I just wanted to through this out there. I have an anterless (2nd deer) tag that I need to fill on private property in Twisp/Winthrop area, which is valid for about 2 more weeks. I will be over there shortly (this coming weekend) and wanted to see if any locals would like for me to remove one of these doe that may be eatin the wifes flowers. PLEASE NOTE< I will not shoot a Doe with fawn or a fawn themselves. A single Doe without fawn is all I am searching for.
I will be hunting my dads property over there to help fill this (had several chances last weekend, but was using a bow and brush saved this one doe, while dogs ran off the other), so I will be able to fill it one way or another.
Just thought I would ask. The permit is for Modern Firearm, but I have been using my bow. There would be some bear pep sticks and or summer sausage to sweeten the deal. I have a place to stay so I wouldnt be campin on your property, etc. All respect will be given to the land owner. The only thing that will be left on the land owners property will be my footprints. I have the greatest respect for these animals (and your property) and for anyone willing to give a chance to a guy trying to put meat on the table.
Thanks in advance!
Douglas
PS: A bit about me:
I enjoy not only hunting deer, but bear, elk, etc. I am a small business owner, 33 years old, well travelled, respectful, courteous, non smoker, drink on occasion, but NEVER while hunting or in camp, clean cut, have a concealed weapons permit (so I have passed a background check by the King Co Sherrifs office, as well as the FBI) and am open to any questions or concerns you may have.

That is the rule for the permit designated by the state. It is a "damage control" permit issued by the Dept of Fish and Game that states the anterless deer must be taken on private property. See page 27 of the 2009 Hunting Regs. If it wasnt for private land, it would be no problem to fill.
Cheers,

| Just curious how you were able to hunt both archery and modern seasons; that specific permit must be consistent with your original tag. |

The weapon (for this specific tag) is to be selected by the land owner. In this case, since I was hunting my fathers property I chose Modern Firearm (since we are the land owners). However, when hunting with a Modern Firearm (even in general season), it is 100% legal to hunt with a bow (or black powder for that matter). And that is how I did it.
I was not hunting both the Archery season and Modern season (Modern Firearm General season opens up on Oct 17th), but specifically I was hunting the "2nd deer antlerless permit", which is a special draw permit. To hunt those other seasons, including black powder, you need to get drawn for a special tag called the "Multi Season Deer Permit", which if drawn, costs 164 dollars (which does not include your hunting license etc, this is just for the permit to hunt multi season). If you do hunt with the multiseason tag, you are still only allowed one legal animal. Normally, a hunter must choose to hunt during the Archery, Modern Firearm or Black Powder seasons, which all have specific dates.
To any curious, I had numerous chances, but the wind just didnt co operate, I kept on getting busted. So I did not fill the tag this year.
Thanks again and perhaps I will get drawn next year and post again.
Cheers!

| The way I read the regulations, you have to hunt the anterless permit consistent with your regular season tag. It's true that a landowner can specify the weapon to be used, but if it is not consistent with your general season, tough luck. Perhaps I am wrong, but you might look into it again. I should too. |

My general season tag for deer is also Modern Firearm, just to be safe.
Cheers! |
