Someone told me to be nice(r) to the new business in town.
So, here is my take.
Coffee and real estate are linked.
With the price of real estate sky rocketing, mostly because of Seattle nerds coming over here, small Valley families can no longer afford to buy anything.
Yes, living in a manufactured home on .32 acres for $279,000 off-grid with a 600 ft. 2 GPM well DOES sounds pretty good.....
I drink coffee every morning before going to work. I went to Hanks to buy coffee, I saw a new flashy coffee, I would have tried had it not been an extremely-insulting-exhorberant(sp)price.....All of the sudden I can't afford coffee in the valley, just like I can't afford to live here.
I'm not sure of the background of said Blue company, and I didn't taste it--BECAUSE it's $10 COFFEE!!!! But it strikes me as an awful trend. People (mainly seattle nerds) can drive up the real estate market WHILE driving up simple prices like coffee.
Where does it stop.
How about your new company tries to be realistic and sell coffee to locals like MVSTA? I could almost buy 2 LBS of their delicious coffee for the price of yours. Just shameful "B.S. coffee roaster" people
So...
Do us a favor....be reasonable!
and people.....stand up...
TEN DOLLAR COFFEE WONT FLY HERE! |

Most hippies are trust funders whose parents sent them here and pay to keep them here because they don't them around. |

| If you don't want to buy $10/pound coffee, then just buy the 3lb tin of coffee at Hanks for $4.99 when it comes on sale. No one is forcing you to buy the $10 coffee or the (also expensive) Folgers singles. This valley may not offer budget real estate anymore, but it does offer choices that fit just about every budget in coffee. All this fuss about coffee has me wondering if people don't have anything better to do. If you want the fancy coffee, get a job so you can afford it. If you don't want it, sit back and enjoy your western family coffee, the beauty of this valley, and all the wonders living here brings. Certainly there are more important issues to get ulcers over. |

| Maybe I’m reading too much into this whole thing, but to me it’s not just about the coffee. It's about how unaffordable living has become in this valley since just about everything from real estate to, well, coffee, has to be tailored to the more affluent coasties. You’re right Etherington ; we have a choice in what coffee we drink, since it’s a luxury (ok a necessity for some) but what about the cost of living here? Now if that's not an important issue worth getting ulcers over I don't know what is. |
