We are coming to a campground on the Methow river next weekend, and was wondering what can be caught there. Also-- what kind of bait is best. This single mom of 2 serious young fisherman appreciate any info passed this way!
If you are staying or planning to fish Perrigin Lake the best bait to use for the highest chance of success is "power bait". Rig the bait on a small hook wtih about 3' of leader (some pre-packaged hooks come this way) behind a swivel and a slip sinker. Cast from shore as far out as you can and just wait for a fish to pick it up. Hooks will be set deep in the fish and are best removed with fishing pliers. Clean and store the fish on ice soon after they are caught. My 9 year old has the best luck with "rainbow bait" and a yellow glitter garlic marshmellow. You should be able to find all of these supplies for around $10.00 at a Fred Meyer or similar store on the west side. Fish early and late in the day, this combo works well on most lakes but some have no bait and catch and release rules so check the regulations. Good Luck...
Thank you to all who responded-- we are back from our big camp trip to the Methow river... we all had a great time. We didn't get any fish, but had so much fun exploring and wondering around your wonderful area. nan
